We love and admire mountains — almost every winter, we do our best to go skiing at least for a while. Meanwhile, our second greatest love is the Russian North. We still go hiking the most remote routes, where you might not even meet a single soul except for bears and foxes, within three weeks in a row.
This project combines both our passions.
When a construction site is surrounded by stone mountain slopes, when you can see the green-purple scarf of the northern lights above your head, — this is an incredible feeling for any architect.
The windows were delivered to Khibiny from Kaliningrad, as ready-made modules in special transportation bags. Unique window modules are made in Russia, specifically for the project. They are durable enough to withstand hurricane winds greater than 50 m/s.
According to the architects’ idea, the restaurant floor should seem to be floating above the ground, protruding from the supporting axial structures up to 8 meters, without any external supports. It was achieved with the help of original engineering solutions.
The chosen materials and solutions made it possible to preserve the unity of human with the beauty of the surrounding nature. The builders managed to preserve the “honest” concrete texture of the sloping ceilings of the main hall. The decoration focuses on anodized aluminum, as well as elements made of natural stone.
